Made in Montana. Treasured Everywhere.

A Sense of Place
Travis Petersen of Sidney, Montana started Meadowlark Brewing to make beer for his state. And the feeling is inescapable.
We worked with Travis Petersen, owner and founder of Meadowlark, to arrive at our ideal mix of inspiration: 50% automotive, 40% baseball, 10% agricultural. Having a feeling of place was very important to the brewery, and the logo illustration of modeled after the state bird of Montana. Joshua Berman, art director of the project, developed the tagline "Made in Montana. Treasured everywhere." to evoke this feeling of belonging to something or somewhere, even though you personally may have never been there. It adorns the top of every can, and almost all of their promotional material.
Personal touches are all over the Meadowlark Brewery brand. Ole Gus is the name of their signature scotch-style ale, but also the name of Travis' old dog. Black Steer's Tookus is an homage to Travis' favorite film - The Big Lebowski. We pored over old Ford color books to find the exact shade of yellow for the logo, so we could match his dad's vintage Harvester pickup. Sometimes, a personal touch is all it takes to let you know where you are.
